Rodrigo Montanhaur got interested about music when he was 12 years old and decided to study the bass guitar when he was 15. Since then he had classes with renowned teachers like Gilberto de Syllos, Mario Campos, Edu Martins, José Alexandre (Havana Brasil), Valéria Poles, Valter Valentini, and several others. He studied electric and acoustic bass at the Conservatório Dramático Dr. Carlos de Campos in Tatuí, São Paulo state, Brazil.

In Campinas and region he has performed with several musicians, which included the recordings of CD's and musical arrangement and production. Among them are lots of experiences with bands and artists of different styles such as jazz trios, ball bands, free lance works. We can list a few below:

- Recordings, arrangements, production and live performances with artists like Marcílio Menezes, Pablo Lapidusas, Tatiana Rocha, Laine Carvalho, Quinteto Vocal Lumini, Bons Tempos, Nuno Geraes, Ataide e Alexandre, Luis Claudio e Giuliano, Adilson e Aloisio, Coyote Western & Country, Eduardo Gomes & Violectra (Sá & Guarabyra, Bruno e Marrone).

- As a teacher he has a respectful following in Campinas and vicinities, organizing beneficent events every year that showcase his students perfoming as a bass players orchestra. His e-group called "Rodrigo Montanhaur Bass Class" comprises musicians, journalists and musical critics and is active since 2003. In February 2005 he organized the event called "Baixaria" at the Daktari Club in Campinas to commemorate 2 years of the existence of such group.

- Montanhaur performs at corporate events and parties in general, having worked with companies like CPFL Rodrigo Montanhaur- Companhia Paulista de Força e Luz, IBM do Brasil, BMW Clube do Brasil, Clínicas de Oncologia de Campinas, amongst others.
