The new version of the Defender JB bass has been just launched at the Summer NAMM show 2008! Now including the ToneChaser TC-SBP handwound pickups, single coil J-type ones. These are passive top quality pickups, shielded and featuring a very low noise level, available on "vintage" and "hot" versions. Pretty soon we'll have some soundsamples available.

The 2008 edition of the London Guitar Show, now part of the larger event London Music International Show, happened this last weekend, specifically between the 12th and 15th June. D'Alegria was once again there with several basses and guitars being exhibited.

The legendary British band Uriah Heep and the D'Alegria endorser Trevor Bolder (bass) have just released a new album called "Wake The Sleeper". A very special mini-site dedicated to the album has been just launched in time to coincide with the actual release.

Built in Flash, it includes samples of all songs, detailed credits and info, videos of some songs performed live recently, and hints on the impressive artwork prepared by artist Ioannis, including some really cool wallpapers.

The Duo Caramuru-Baldanza formed by pianist Fabio Caramuru and bassist Pedro Baldanza created a unique blend of Brazilian Jazz, folk music and avant/modern classical ideas. Baldanza used to play with the legendary Brazilian prog rock band Som Nosso de Cada Dia and often tours with the renowned Sá & Guarabira band. He plays a 6-string Dart bass which he used on the debut CD released by his new Duo, "Bossa In The Shadows".

A sample of bass player Jorge Pescara (Ithamara Koorax, solo) playing a version for "Brazilian Rhyme" by North American band Earth Wind & Fire is available here. Pescara plays a 5-string D'Alegria Defender JB bass, equipped with ToneChaser preamp and pickups. The new live DVD released by bass player Zuzo Moussawer, a D'Alegria endorser, is out now. Recorded during a crowded gig at the Mix Hall in the Escola de Música e Tecnologia (EMT) in São Paulo (Brazil), Zuzo played his 4-string Dart bass throughout the gig. The 1st São Paulo ArtRock Festival will happen on November 10th at Blackmore Rock Bar in São Paulo, Brazil. On this first edition the bands Tarkus, Violeta de Outono and Apocalypse will be featured, three of the most important progressive rock groups in Brazil nowadays.

On the 12th edition of the Rio ArtRock Festival that happened on October 7th 2007 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the legendary Swedish hard prog band Trettioåriga Kriget headlined.

Both lead singer/guitarist Robert Zima (photo) and bassist/guitarist Stefan Fredin played a D'Alegria Dimension guitar. Check some photos out here.

Bass player Trevor Bolder (D'Alegria endorser) and Uriah Heep (UK) have just announced the title of their new album, "Wake The Sleeper", which is now due out in late January 2008. Since Sanctuary Records was recently acquired by Universal, the band and management decided to release it some months after the initial plan (September 2007), so a proper marketing campaign can be sorted out by the record company. On the photo beside, Trevor can be seen during the recordings in the Chapel Studios.

This is the first Uriah Heep studio album since "Sonic Origami" (1998), which means that it's their first effort in almost a decade. Those who have heard the master tapes stated it is easily in their Top 3 which means a lot having the band released 20 albums since 1969, when the group was created! It is now available at The Bass Vault site, organized by bassists Victor Wooten and Steve Bailey, a video recorded at the International Bass Solo Competition performance, on which Zuzo Moussawer, a D'Alegria endorser, won the 2nd place. On the photo beside are featured (left to right) bass players Zuzo, Jonathan Herrera (Bass Player magazine), Boris Kozlov (Russia, 3rd place in the competition), Steve Bailey, Victor Wooten and Jeff Schmidt (USA, 1st place), as well as drummer Gregg Bissonette.

The bassist, composer and arranger Bruno Migliari, a D'Alegria endorser, has just released with the Italian guitarist and composer Chester Harlan their first 8VB project CD, called Amicizia.

Besides Bruno Migliari playing fretless bass (and double bass on one track) and Chester Harlan playing electric guitar (and acoustic on one track) also featured on this project are Vitor Gonçalves on piano, Marcelinho da Costa and Xande Figueiredo on drums and sax players Henrique Band, Quito Pedrosa and AC.

The German band Pink Cream 69 featuring Dennis Ward on bass guitar have just recorded a new live DVD, to be released soon. Two shows were recorded for that specifically on July 15th at the Masters of Rock in Vizovice (Czech Republic) and on July 20th at Das Fest in Karlsruhe (Germany).

On this DVD as well on their latest CD called "In10sity", Dennis Ward played his 5-string D'Alegria Dart bass equipped with coil tapping and Vintagizer features.

Trevor Bolder and Uriah Heep have been recording their new studio album in the Chapel Recording Studios in the UK. Trevor is D'Alegria endorser and plays a 4-string D'Alegria Defender TB signature model. Some studio reports and photos can be checked out on the band's official website. The forthcoming Uriah Heep album is scheduled for a September 2007 release on Sanctuary Records.

Trae Pierce, bass player with the Blind Boys of Alabama and who has also worked with James Brown, Dr. Hook and several others, is the new endorser of D'Alegria basses. Pierce has already won 4 Grammy's and he is right now recording his own solo CD, besides touring incessantly with the Blind Boys. He can be seen on these photos holding both one of his Grammy's as well as a 5-string Defender JB Deluxe bass. He will be playing this one whilst his own bass is being manufactured. Welcome aboard, Trae!

André Neiva, renowned bass player of the Marcio Montarroyos Band and the instrumental group Cama de Gato among several other projects, received this weekend his new bass: the Dart AN - André Neiva signature bass. Especially projected for Neiva, a D'Alegria endorser, this bass has 6 strings, a 32-inch fingerboard, a new exclusive body shape and a White Poplar frontal veneering (a very beautiful exotic wood).
