Pre-amps
The pre-amps used on all D'Alegria instruments include the most advanced techniques in audio engineering. Their project was done with the purpose of providing the maximum quality together with a simple and reliable operation.
The ToneChaser preamps are originally D'Alegria preamps now licensed for production by ToneChaser Electronics. Available model:
- ToneChaser TC-3B, used in the Dart, Double Dart, Defender, Dragster and Dynamo AG models
The D'Alegria preamps are exclusively available in our instruments. These are the available models:
- D'Alegria AB, used in the A-Dart model
- D'Alegria SB, used in the Discovery model
They offer the following basic caracteristics:
- Very low noise
- Low consumption
- 9V power supply (standard - 1 battery) or 18V power supply (optional - 2 batteries)
- Low output impedance, allowing the use of long cables without signal loss or noise influence
- High input impedance
- 2 pickups input
We also offer other additional controls that might be optionally added to our circuits, like the "Vintagizer", the "Blend Circuit", and Mini-switches for series/parallel selection or for humbucking/single coil selection.
Each of the pre-amps presents some specific characteristics as follows:
ToneChaser TC-3B model
- Bass, mid and treble controls, with center detent
- Blend (with center detent) control, when 2 pickup types are installed, and volume control
- Internally switchable treble action range
D'Alegria AB model
- Bass, mid and treble controls, with center detent
- Blend (with center detent) control, when 2 pickup types are installed (magnetic and piezo), and volume control
- Internal gain controls, adjustable for a broad range
D'Alegria SB model
- Bass, mid and treble internal controls, factory adjusted
- External volume control
- Internal gain controls, adjustable for a broad range
Options (available for most of the preamps described above)
- Mini-switches for single coil (1 active coil) or humbucking (2 active coils) modes selection, for each pickup;
- Mini-switches for series (higher output level, strength on bass tone) or parallel (lower output level, brighter sound) modes selection (coil connection for each pickup);
- Blend circuit: complete configuration that englobes 2 mini-switches for series/parallel selection plus 2 knobs to blend the coils for each pickup, when they're in parallel connection mode. You can see a photo of this configuration here.
- Vintagizer: exclusive D'Alegria circuit that works on either the active or passive versions and offer through a switch control 6 (six) different sound (tone) options, ranging from a modern sound to a vintage one. Ideal for those bass players who need a lot of flexibility for the instrument, allowing him/her to play in several different styles.
Our circuits are installed in totally copper-shielded cavities, avoiding any unwanted noise interferences. Their filters were projected to extract the maximum from our instruments, acting in a perfectly integrated way with their construction.
