Cumaru (Dipteryx Odorata)

Cumaru is a really hard wood (one of toughest in the world), heavy and stiff. It has a yellowish brown colour, with medium texture. It has a specific weight of 1.080 kg/m³, and for its characteristics is good only for necks and laminates. Due to its stiffness, its use on necks provides an excellent attack with a very good sustain. In terms of sound its characteristics are similar to Ipê (it is even called by many "Ipê Champanhe"), with strong mids. Some pieces present crossed veins and so sometimes it's hard to find good ones for necks.
