Roxinho/Purpleheart (Peltogyne spp)

Roxinho is a heavy, dense wood, averaging 900 kg/m³. It is very stiff and stable, what makes it a good choice for necks and fingerboards. It also looks lustrous, and can be brought to a very good finish. It looks deep purplish when freshly cut, but it darkens to a purple-brown look when exposed to light. Due to its density and splintery structure, it's a difficult wood to work with, but its use on necks and fingerboards contributes to a very "woody" and defined sound.
